Graphic Novels
GRAPHIC NOVELS IN CAMPBELL’S LIBRARY -more than a comic book
If you like manga and/or comic books, you will enjoy reading graphic novels.
Graphic novels are fiction or non-fiction published in sequential art format. They have been published since 1842 in different forms around the world.
More than a comic book, graphic novels gained popularity in North America with the publishing of The Watchman by Allan Moore and D. Gibbons. Maus: A Survivor’s Tale received a special Pulitzer prize in 1992.
Graphic novels address relevant and complex social issues important to young people. You can compare traditional literary works such as Romeo and Juliet to the same version in graphic novels, where text and images portray the story.
English and Art courses have been studying graphic novels in their courses. Check out our graphic novel collection the next time you are in the library.
