Continuing Education

Albert Campbell facilitates four opportunities for continuing education:
  1. Night School
  2. Internation Languages
  3. Virtual School
  4. Summer School
Policy for Night School and Virtual School:

Students may apply for a night school or virtual course that cannot be scheduled for them during the current day school year. Students will maintain a full-time status (minimum 3 classes per semester) at day school if they choose to add an extra course. The extra course will be the first consideration for dropping.

Three points of caution:
  1. Courses will only run if there are enough students to fill a class. A student should not count on the availability of the course.
  2. Students' workloads will be heavy. In the event a student wishes to drop a course later, the student will normally be expected to drop the night school course.
  3. Students wanting to take a compulsory English class should consider the impact on their language or mathematical knowledge as these are deemed foundational courses that normally benefit from:
    • direct instruction
    • regular (corrective) feedback from a teacher
    • daily rehearsal over a number of months.

Summer School

New credit: Weekdays 8:30 – 3:15 during the month of July. Courses are normally offered in English, French, Math, Science, Literacy, Careers; and Civics, grade 9 and 10 Canadian geography and history and some business courses.

Improvement credit Weekdays 8:30 to 11:30 or 12:30 to 3:30 during July. For students who have received a mark of 35- 46% with good attendance to the end of the course are eligible.

Transfer courses

Transfer courses are provided by the Ministry of Education to allow a student to move from a Grade 9 applied course to a Grade 9 academic course by completing a transfer course during summer school.
Changing levels requires differing units to be learned in order to qualify for a higher level. Application forms may be obtained through your guidance counsellor when summer school applications come out. (Late April- Early May)
